VALL at VLA Conference, October 21 - 23, 2015

The joint VLA/VALL conference was held at the Richmond Marriott from Oct. 21 -23, 2015, with VALL members presenting three programs and one Library Speed Networking session. VALL also had a table in the exhibition hall which attracted a lot of traffic.

VLA President Suzy Szasz Palmer getting ready to cut the ribbon to the exhibit hall and kick off the conference.

And here we go ...

The well decorated VALL table with a very appropriate holiday theme. Treasurer Alison Hancock and VP/PE Patty Petroccione making sure everything is in place.

Conference attendee, Nancy Speisser, taking the VALL survey - a quick survey to see if there is any interest in VLA for VALL-taught legal reference workshops.

VLA President Suzy Szasz Palmer welcoming conference attendees and introducing keynote speaker.

Keynote speaker, Carrie Brown, talking about her book, The Stargazer's Sister.

The cover of the soon-to-be released book.

VALL President Stephanie Miller at the business meeting - there was no quorum, so no VALL business could be conducted, but VALLers who attended received an update on old and new business.

Patty Petroccione introducing Joyce Manna Janto, University of Richmond School of Law Library, who presented Workplace Privacy: A Reality or an Oxymoron?

The room was packed for Joyce's presentation.

There is no expectation of privacy in the workplace, Joyce told the audience, and there were gasps of disbelief.

Caroline Osborne, Washington & Lee University School of Law, presented Privacy, Archives, & the Digital Age.

Stephanie Miller, Washington & Lee University School of Law, presented Managing Online Presence for Students and Professionals.
